Shipping

Shipping sets up what shoppers can choose at checkout and how you buy labels. The page has five sections, in this order.

To go live you need a ship-from address and at least one active flat-rate method, even if you also offer carrier rates.

The address your orders ship from.

Field Notes
Location name Like Main warehouse.
Street, Apartment, suite, unit (optional)
City
State Two letters, like OR.
ZIP code Five digits, or ZIP+4.
Country United States only, for now.

Click Check address to have a carrier check it. You’ll see one of:

  • The carrier confirmed this address.
  • The carrier suggests a corrected address. Pick Use suggested address or Keep mine, then save.
  • The carrier could not match this address. You can still save it as typed.
  • Not checked. No connected carrier could check it just now.

A check never stops you saving. Click Save origin.

Connect your own USPS, UPS or FedEx account to show live rates at checkout and buy labels from each order. Shoppers see the names you give each service, not the carrier’s.

  1. Click Connect account and enter your account details:
    • USPS — Consumer key and Consumer secret. To buy labels, also add your Customer Registration ID (CRID), Mailer ID (MID) and Enterprise Payment Account number.
    • UPS — Client ID, Client secret and Shipper account number.
    • FedEx — API key, Secret key and FedEx account number.
  2. Click Test connection. You’ll see [Carrier] accepted your account details, or why it didn’t.
  3. Turn the carrier On.
  4. Under Offer, tick each service you want shoppers to see. They all start off.
  5. Change Shown at checkout as to name each service your way, like Express or 2-day.

Saved keys show only their last four characters. Leave a key blank to keep it, or click Remove to clear it. Disconnect account removes everything. The carrier then leaves checkout until you connect and test it again.

Changing your account details resets the connection to Not tested. Test it again to keep offering it.

Shoppers see live rates when a carrier is on, tested, has at least one service ticked, and you have a ship-from address and a package.

  • Live rates and your flat-rate methods show together, cheapest first, with the cheapest picked.
  • Rates are kept for 10 minutes.
  • If one carrier doesn’t answer, shoppers still see the others.
  • The price is checked again when the order is placed.

Only owners and admins can change carriers and their services.

The boxes you ship in. Checkout prices carrier shipping in your default box, adding the weight of what’s in the basket. You need at least one package for live rates.

Field Notes
Name Like Small mailer.
Length, Width, Height In inches or centimetres.
Empty weight The box and packing, before anything goes in.
Use this box to price checkout Makes it the default.

Your first package becomes the default. Everything in an order ships in one box. A product with no weight counts as one pound.

Prices you set yourself, offered at checkout next to live carrier rates.

Field Notes
Name What shoppers see, like Standard shipping.
Code Made from the name if left blank.
Price (USD) 0 shows as Free.
Days The delivery estimate, 1 to 30. Shoppers see 5 business days.
Status Active offers it at checkout. Draft hides it.

For orders you ship yourself on a flat-rate method. Click Create label, pick the method and enter the recipient’s address. Lattice gives it a local tracking number. No carrier is involved.

To buy a real carrier label, use Buy label on the order. See Orders.

Lattice checks carrier tracking on its own for labels bought through Lattice. Checks start two hours after purchase and get more frequent as a parcel gets closer: every hour once it’s out for delivery. Tracking stops once a parcel is delivered or returned, or after 45 days.

Status Meaning
Label created Bought, not yet scanned by the carrier.
In transit On its way.
Out for delivery On the truck today.
Delivered Delivered.
Delivery problem Something went wrong. Check with the carrier.
Returned to sender Sent back to you.

A return label that’s delivered back to you is marked received.

The shipping email goes to the customer when you fulfil an order. Lattice doesn’t email them on later tracking updates.
